Projects - Schools Environment Campaign Initiative (SECI)

This initiative celebrates the International Environment Day in public schools and encourages pupils and their teachers to design and implement environmental campaigns on a yearly basis .

To celebrate the international environment day and embrace this initiative in public schools, Gozour foundation in collaboration with Barclays have launched the ‘Schools Environment campaign Initiative’ (SECI). The project was implemented in three schools in Mit Rahina Village, Six of October Governorate and is targeting 15 teachers and more than 300 children.

Through the SECI, school teachers are trained on how to design environmental messages and themes; environmental activities; as well as an environmental campaigns. To disseminate what they have learned, each teacher works with a group of pupils on developing and implementing an environmental campaign that includes a series of awareness activities; home visits; planning trees inside the schools and a cleaning up of the schools surrounding, as well as the streets of their village, particularly those leading to tourist sites. This is in addition to organizing environmental initiatives that include establishing a recycling unit; a green house and a Mushroom production unit. The training of teachers and the income of the production and recycling units will ensure the project’s sustainability and its replication.
